Enhance your photographs by distressing prints or by adding smooth or highly textured surfaces, depending on the content and concept of the image. Learn how layering, tearing or cutting your photo then reassembling, and applying washes can create a psychological depth to carefully chosen images.     The foundations of encaustic painting will be taught. Overview of how to set-up a studio, equipment need, wood substrates, materials, and resources. We will cover health and safety issues while using various techniques during encaustic painting. Students will learn to work with blow torches, how it affects the wax on a board surface, creating rich textures, layering with wax, using masking techniques to create shapes, utilizing the inherent translucency of wax to create depth and interest.
