COURSE DESCRIPTION:


Painting with various media emphasizing organizational structure, technical considerations, abstract relationships, and basic color theory. This introductory course in the art of painting is primarily concerned with oil painting because oils can achieve the widest range of representational effects.


 


COURSE OBJECTIVES:


The objective of ART 2260 is to provide students with a studio foundation in the art of painting. Ideally, students completing the course should have a working knowledge of the methodology of constructing paintings from concept to completion. Within this objective is the desire to create a greater understanding of the properties of color, to increase perceptual and technical skills, and ultimately to deepen appreciation for the painting process as a means of personal expression.
